National Engineers Week is generally celebrated in the greater Anchorage area the last week of February each year. The exact dates will be determined the preceding Fall when the Engineer's Week Steering Committee meets. The Steering Committee consists of engineers representing the various engineering societies and organizations that have local chapters in the Anchorage Area. There are a number of student related activities sponsored by the Steering Committee under the guidance of the Student Activities subcommittee. The goal of the Student Activities subcommittee is to expose students to the engineering profession and to provide educational opportunities for students that may have the aptitude and/or desire to become engineers. The student competitions are a part of the student activities planned in the Anchorage area. The coordinator of this year's Student Competitions is Nyree McDonald. She can be contacted at (907)786-1964 or afnvm@uaa.alaska.edu.
It is expected that the next competition will be held Saturday, 21 February 2009. Watch this site next fall for confirmation of the date and for the new rules!
