Rubber Band Powered Vehicle Ideas

The drawing shows a simple vehicle that can be made out of a can (must have a lid), a coat hanger, a small stick, and one rubber band.

To make the vehicle

• drill holes in the center of the lids large enough to stick the coat hanger wire through.
• put the stick through the rubber band and attach to the walls of the can. If you use wood for the stick, you might use straight pins through the wall of the can to hold the stick in place.
• bend the coat hanger to the desired shape and stick ends through holes in can lids. After wire is through the holes bend the ends (with needle nose pliers) into hooks to hold the rubber band.
• Attach the rubber band to the coat hanger ends and close up the can.
• Wind the rubber band by twisting the can relative to the hanger.
• Set on ground and let it loose!
