This course is designed to give junior civil engineering students the ability to design basic foundations for superstructures..

Expected Outcomes

At a conclusion of this course, students will have ability to design:

Principles of foundation design; design of shallow foundations; design of mat or raft foundations; design of pile foundations; design of drilled pier foundations; design of retaining walls; braced cuts or excavations; bulkhead.
