Catalog Description
Essentials of structural design in Timber. Building code requirements and standard practice for the design of basic structural elements, connections, and shear wall lateral force resisting systems are covered.
Course Objective
To enable the student to learn the basics of the National Design Specification for Wood Construction and how to apply it to the design of basic structural components, connections, and building systems. The student will also gain a deeper understanding of basic mechanics of materials, structural analysis, and design principles as they apply real world design.
Prerequisite(s)
CE 431 - Structural Analysis with a grade of "C" or better
